Justin Burton

Dr. Burton is a Winship Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Physics at Emory University. His research encompasses a broad range of topics in fluid mechanics, plasma physics, particulate dynamics, and geosciences. His lab utilizes high-speed imaging, particle tracking, and machine learning to learn the dynamics and fluid properties of charged dust grains suspended in a low-temperature plasma (dusty plasma). This includes the forces laws that that drive particle motion, and how to build continuum theories of dusty plasma fluids. Beyond research, he leads several K 12 STEM outreach and education initiatives throughout the Atlanta region.
