Associate Professor

Junlin Yuan is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Michigan State University and directs the Turbulence Simulation and Modeling Lab. Her group uses direct and large-eddy simulation to study complex wall-bounded turbulence where roughness, permeability, pressure gradients, and surface motion drive the flow out of equilibrium and break conventional models, and develops physics-guided and data-driven predictive closures. Applications span engineering and environmental systems. Her work in TEMPEST addresses non-equilibrium compressible and incompressible turbulence at the turbulence-closure level of the Center's triple closure problem.
