Dr. Matthews is a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Baylor University whose research includes numerical modeling and experimental investigations of the charging and dynamics of dust in astrophysical and laboratory plasma environments. Her work investigates how particle dynamics are coupled to their environment, tracking particles at the kinetic level to analyze how energy flows from small to large scales structures within fluid flows. She is actively engaged in mentoring high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, connecting them to national and international collaborators, and preparing them for jobs in industry, academia, and national laboratories.
